Introducing Sydney Osgood, Intern

Tell us a bit about yourself and what fuels your passion to intern with the Gazelle Foundation:

I found my love for running through my first half marathon in 2014. It inspired me to join middle school cross country and track, where I stayed distance oriented. I trained with Gilbert Tuhabonye and his Gazelle youth groups till I reached high school where I still compete in track and cross country. Each time I hit the town lake trail I always seem to run into at least 1 person I met through Gazelles, no matter the day.

I enjoy the experience of volunteering because of the overall theme it holds to me. Which is to either help those who cannot help themselves or inform new people so they can have the opportunity to take action. Running is a huge part of my life and it truly brings me so much joy. This foundation was a perfect mix of being able to learn from people that share the same passions as well as see the behind the scenes of how they solve a deprivation of such an essential thing, water. — Sydney Osgood

I’ve participated in Run For The Water four times, it is by far my favorite road race, for the cause and the community. My school has given me a three-week opportunity to choose any internship I wanted. Through the Gazelle community, I have met many amazing people and it fueled my original passion for running so why not go back to where it all started? The Gazelle Foundation was my first thought!

I always supported the cause through the race and encouraged students at my school to join to raise money, so I wanted to get more background about all the Gazelle Foundation does through this. I have always enjoyed volunteering and it is strongly encouraged at my catholic oriented school. In general, I love spending my time with people who are passionate about running just as I am. I am also a captain on my cross country team it has given me the chance to lead and influence others to grow and thrive through running.

Overall I enjoy the experience of volunteering because of the overall theme it holds to me. Which is to either help those who cannot help themselves or inform new people so they can have the opportunity to take action. Running is a huge part of my life and it truly brings me so much joy.
