Ndago-Muyange Water System #16

PROJECT KICKOFF

We are excited to announce that construction on the Ndago-Muyange water system began on August 14, 2014. This community, located in Songa Colline, Bururi Province, had very limited water resources located several miles away from the area and the water there was contaminated.

This project will serve 2,200 residents when complete. And a big thank you goes to our generous donors who made another massive project in 2014 possible!

PROJECT OVERVIEW

  • Construction dates: August 14, 2014 - December 2014

  • Located in the Songa Colline, Bururi Province

  • Scope: 4.35km pipeline

  • 5 cistern reservoirs

  • 3 collection chambers

  • 12 tap stands

  • Employees: 58, including masons and plumbers

  • Serves 2,200 residents

HOW IT WORKS

Water is captured from a source before it can become contaminated.  It is filtered in the collection chamber and flows onward. Entrenched PVC pipe carries water to tanks, and to multiple tap stands. Tap stands are strategically positioned within easy walking distance to schools, churches, community centers and other central locations to maximize access points for residents. Water is available for free to all people regardless of the person’s tribe or religion.

WATER SYSTEM COMPLETE

The Ndago-Muyange water system was completed on December 15, 2014, on time and on budget. This gravity system serves 2,200 people in the area, aiming to improve heath and living conditions among the communities in the Songa commune.

None of this would be possible without the support of our incredible donors, and for that we say, murakoze cane! (Thank you very much!)
